Celebrity Stalkings 10-30-08

A couple of days ago, while on my lunch hour, I was at one of my favorite shops, Haven, and while I was shopping I looked up and there was Reba McIntire. After I got back to the office, I was rehashing the story to ole Dickson County (a.k.a. Tanya) and she was asking if I got pictures or an autograph and I told her no and that was because I always read interviews where celebrities in Nashville say they love it here because NO ONE bothers them. I don’t want to be the only fool in Nashville that does, so I never bother them when I see them. Well, apparently Dickson County feels differently. She told me that if she had seen her she would have busted out her cell phone and taken VIDEOS of the poor woman. So, basically, you shouldn’t take Tanya to anywhere that a celebrity might pop up or you will also be associated with being from Dickson, because that’s how Tanya does it.

So fast forward to today. Tanya is telling me how she went and did charity work last night (three cheers for T!) at a radio station. So, apparently this guy walks in and says “Hey thanks for helping us out.” She says “your welcome” and just stares at him like who is this guy. He must have been able to read her stare and says “I’m so and so, I am in the band Disciple.” So, are we all together now on the fact that previously Tanya didn’t even know who he was? She thinks to herself, “Hey I have heard of the band, I don’t know much about them, but I have a couple of friends who know them so I am going to whip out my cell phone, and cell phone stalk him into taking a picture with me so I can show those friends that do know who he is.”

It is at this point in the story that I have a revelation. I figure if I am ever out with Tanya and she spots, say, Tim McGraw, I better get the hell outta dodge or she is going to embarrass the crap out of me. She’ll probably make ME take the picture or maybe even a video. She’ll probably even shuffle him to some spot where the lighting is good, and the background color brings out her eyes, and his smile. Crap. I didn’t think of that.

(Sigh) This is really going to happen to me at some point in time, huh?
